Q: When should I have my baby photographed?
Babies are gorgeous at all ages! It’s never too late to have your baby photographed. Different ages show different stages of their precious lives and all are beautiful. For those teeny little curled up poses, I recommend having your bundle of joy photographed in their first two weeks when they are the most settled, sleepy and relaxed. If you just want to see their chubby legs and cheeks in all of their glory, I recommend having your bub photographed before they’re walking, they will be running before you know it!
My favourite times to photograph in the first year are:
First 2-3 weeks for the squished up newborn poses
3-4 months for those gorgeous new smiles and tummy time moments6-8 months (sitting and just about to crawl phase) your little one is usually at the peak chunkiness phase before they start getting in the move and I just adore capturing the nudie rudie moments of them playing with their toes in happy baby pose.
9-11 months Cake smash and Splash! This is such a cool stage and perfect timing to do a cake smash as the portraits will be ready before the first birthday and make great gifts or Party invitations. We do a deliciously messy cake smash and then a splash in our yellow ducky bathtub! It’s always a hit.

Q: What do we need to bring to the photoshoot?
Everything is provided for your session. Wraps, blankets, a variety of props, headbands, baskets and wipes. Its a good idea to bring a change of clothes for you and your partner. Lots of nappies (up to 6 is sufficient) if your little one takes a dummy please bring this also.
The best way to enhance your newborn session, is by personalising your photographs. Every family has a story to tell, and these little touches bring so much joy into your artworks.
We love when families bring things from home to make the shoot extra special. Things like musical instruments, motorbike gear, sports gear, the first bear/booties you bought for your little one. Handmade or personalised blankets for your little one. Family heirlooms like jewelry, childhood bears, veils can also add a special touch to your portraits.
Does your family have a passion for music?Do you think bub will be a book worm like mum?Is there a special heirloom passed down in your family?
We love incorporating wedding rings on tiny little toes to show the beginning of a story. First teddy bears bought well before the first kick was felt. Those little shoes that you’ve held onto for those first steps in the world to take place. It’s the little things like this that make your session truly bespoke and help us tell your story. If you’re not sure, that’s perfectly fine. We have lots of options to choose from in the studio for stunning, timeless photographs.

Q: Can I bring my fur baby?
We LOVE having pets in the studio, and we understand why you would love to capture your fur baby with your hooman baby! While pets are always welcome, please let us know prior if you have decided to bring them so we can prepare appropriately. We usually do composite portraits (photoshoping multiple portraits together when working with babies and furbabies so that we can ensure everyone is kept safe throughout the shoot.

Q: Is our photographer vaccinated against whooping cough and Covid?
Our Newborn photographers Lana and Caity are professionally qualified photographers, trained in newborn safety and posing, and are all vaccinated against whooping cough and covid. We just melt when a new little bub comes into the studio, and we pride ourselves in the care we take in our newborn sessions. We have had two tiny new additions to the team recently, so we know what’s important to parents ourselves.
-
Q: Can we include siblings in our newborn shoot?
Of course! We absolutely love photographing the dynamics of every family, and capturing siblings with their new baby brother or sister is so special. A lot of time in your session will be spent posing, nursing and soothing your little one between frames, so don’t be concerned that we are not photographing the entire time.
If your baby’s siblings are quite young themselves, we will photograph them early in the session. It can be difficult for kids to stay engaged for the whole session. While we have lots to entertain kids in the studio, we recommend that dad or a grandparent take them into our reception area for the remainder of the session with something handy to entertain them. This will help create a calm space for your baby.
